New ice that forms at the sinaaq, meaning an “add on” either as the edge of the tuvaq becomes established or after a piece has broken off (uukkaqtuq) and it is re-freezing; it is usually thin and dangerous, but can sometimes be walked on if it is cold enough.' (North/South Qikiqtaaluk, Inuit Siku Atlas)

Uuyuaq
'Extension ice, literally ‘an extension of something’; ice and slush cemented onto land-fast ice, subject to removal by current or wind action; a very dangerous type of ice to walk on (HA)' (Seward Peninsula Inupiaq, Weyapuk Jr. and Krupnik 2012: 20)
